The US Army Corps of Engineers is addressing stability concerns of a historically-significant dam in Dover, Ohio. The project construction cost is estimated at $109 million. The dam site also includes habitat for two federally endangered species. The study priorities were addressing the potential for dam sliding and uplift under Project Maximum Flood conditions as well as strategies for protecting the unique Art Deco architecture and critical habitat.

Intuition Intuition & Logic was the dam engineer on the VE Team led by Strategic Value Solutions. The team reviewed the design criteria and previous work including results of instrumentation. Since this structure mathematically fails under PMF loading the team reviewed the Emergency Action Plan in detail and recommended additional geotechnical exploration and alternative methods for flood protection and increases spillway capacity and slope protection methods downstream of abutments that improved performance and reduced damage to historic structures.
